  •

What do I need to get started?

    • One or more television screens or LCD projectors.
    • One or more Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 games consoles with two or more controllers. These are often available to borrow from staff members, regulars or a gamer who will be attending the nights.
    • A copy of the 3 chosen games: FIFA 10, Need for Speed: Shift and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
    • An individual who understands gaming and how to work the consoles is a great help when it comes to setting up the consoles each night and running the event.
    • Venue membership for the national Play the Gamer league.
  •

    Do you supply equipment?

We supply all your marketing information and scoring sheets, however we do not supply the console or games. We advise that venues either borrow the equipment from a member of staff or a regular or purchase the equipment. The equipment required is very common and easy to get hold of. We also advise that if purchasing the equipment, it can be used separately to PTG nights as an extra draw to the venue.

Wherever possible, we will assist our venues with obtaining games and equipment at the very best rates possible. New league games may be available at discounted rates when they are released.

  •

What does Play the Gamer cost me as a venue owner?

Only £65 + VAT on the 1st of every month which can be paid by standing order or by a credit or debit card. Invoices will be issued at the end of each month for the following months play. This cost covers an unlimited number of players and we do not tie you into a contract.

  •

    What console do I use?

You have a choice of Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 which are the two most popular consoles in the world and are the platforms that run all three of the league games. You can decide which console you want to use, however if you know some of the players, we suggest you check with them to see what they would prefer.

  •

Do I need a Gaming License?

No your venue does not need a gaming license. The necessary permissions have been sought and obtained from the publishers of the games.

  •

If I need help setting up, who can help me?

If you do not have any member of staff who knows the games and consoles, please either contact our office and a member of staff may be able to help or you will find instruction on our website in the rules section.

  •

Do you have a representative in my area that could help?

In some areas we may have an agent who can help you; however this won't always be the case. You can always try ringing our customer service line with any questions you may have.

  •

How do I encourage people to attend?

We supply you with posters and flyers that can go up in your venue but also in the surrounding area so you are guaranteed to cause a stir. Play the Gamer is a new and innovative entertainment night so people will want to be involved.

  •

What does my money get me?

We as a company are running a national marketing campaign and have backing from some very big names including KICK Energy, EA Games, hmv, Sweetpatch (official FIFA partner to Play the Gamer) and Carlsberg.

We provide all the marketing material including posters, postcards, game set ups and scoring sheets for your venue. You will have a page on our website where you can not only upload the scores for your players, but we provide the facility to upload a picture of your venue. We will also run the regional finals and national finals.

Big Pub Guide have just launched an iPhone App of their directory and when you sign up and pay for 3 months you will get a free listing on the iPhone App (advertising worth £150) and will receive 2 free cases of KICK Energy Drink!

Average projected takings from approx 10 players & 5 friends is £150 in drinks and £30 in food = £720 monthly sales for only £65!

  •

    Can I charge my players?

Players are charged £1 each night which goes into the regional prize pool but venues can also charge players - we would advise not to charge too much!

Mandatory: Each player must contribute £1 each night. This £1 goes towards the Regional and National prize pool.

Suggested: An extra £1 could be requested to add a more competitive edge to each evening. This will run in a similar format to the classic pub quiz: ££ in a pint glass and the winner receives the takings, making it more fun and competitive for those taking part.

Suggested: A further £1 could be offered to the member of the group who is running the evening. This individual will be responsible for taking the scores and maybe even supplying the console. The extra ££ per player offers an incentive for their involvement.

  •

Do I pay for Regionals and Nationals?

You do not pay anything for the Regionals and Nationals. The £1 nightly contribution from your players goes toward the cash prizes. Your players do not incur any extra cost apart from their transport costs to the finals venue..

  •

How many people can play in my league?

The league is not limited by numbers. However, if you have more than 15 people, we advise that you have more than one console, due to the length of time each game takes and the number of games required, the use of an extra console allows for more people to play.

  •

How do people know I am a Play the Gamer venue?

On the Play the Gamer website there is a postcode finder whereby interested gamers put in their postcode and the venues in their locality come up.

You can link with us on our Play the Gamer facebook page (www.facebook.com/playthegamer) on which the latest information about PTG signups, winners, venue special offers etc will be announced.

  •

What happens if it isn’t working for me?

If you find that Play the Gamer is just not suitable for your venue and you are not seeing any financial return or traffic you had hoped, then we understand. We do not make you sign up to any form of contract and you can leave the league at any point. We understand not every venue is a Play the Gamer venue and do not wish to force the league upon anyone. We are confident you will see results and if not, you are free to leave. This having been said, we will do everything possible to provide you with the support to ensure that your venue has every possible chance of achieving the very best results with the entertainment products provided by Living it Loving it. Please don't hesitate to contact us for some help and advice.
